The Story Source
A former assistant to legendary New York photographer Bruce Wolf, Art Turner is (as far as anyone knows) also the youngest person ever to win the SAM Award for Best Advertising Photography in Western Canada. His past clients range from General Motors Canada, Health Canada, and Petro-Canada to JUNO award-winning recording artists The Wailin’ Jennys, James Keelaghan, Ruth Moody and Nicky Mehta. Art's work has appeared in numerous national and international publications, including The Communication Arts Awards Annual, Canadian Business, Chatelaine, Applied Arts, and The Fretboard Journal. He is the creator of the websites beardsellguitars.com, thestorysource.ca, nickymehta.ca, artturner.com, and artturnerphotographer.com. Also an accomplished guitarist, Art has released several critically acclaimed albums, recorded and performed with some of the finest roots and traditional musicians in the business, and played a few wee (and one or two not so wee) music festivals hither and yon. He has performed on the main stage of the venerable Winnipeg Folk Festival (twice), served as a judge in the JUNO Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys, for you folks south of the 49th parallel), and, in September 2007, was featured in Guitar Player magazine (where his name appeared on the front cover, right under a picture of Alex Lifeson of Rush). He lives a few kilometres west of the geographical center of North America with his wife Lyn, and a varying number of cats, guitars, bicycles, and canoes.
